Dr. JEAN-MARIE CISHAHAYO (Burundi) Dr. Jean Marie CISHAHAYO arrived in China in 1987. He is a true specialist on China development issues having witnessed first-hand China’ socio-economic transformation over the last 19 years.
In 1992 Dr. CISHAHAYO earned an undergraduate degree in International Studies from Fudan University, and in 1997 he earned a Master degree in Law & International Political Economy, also from Fudan. He was granted in 1994 an advanced studies Diploma in Chinese Business Law from Beijing University. In 2004 he received a PH.D in Business Administration from Washington Int’l University (USA), specializing in Private sector development policies and Sustainable Development. His research topic was “Globalization and Future trends of China Sustainable Development: A Sustainable Development Approach”.
Since 1996 Dr. CISHAHAYO has been working as an Expert /Consultant for various United Nations projects in China. In these programs he has been involved in assisting government officials in charge of economic development and investment promotions agencies, coaching Chinese CEOs and managers of small and medium enterprises on innovation & competitiveness, cross culture communication and negotiations, sustainable development policies, job creation and corporate socially responsibility (CSR) . For five years beginning in 2000, he was the Senior Technical Advisor and Coordinator of the United Nations International training Centre of the ILO ( Turin , Geneva) promotional programs in China and involved in project research and training activities planning for U.N. trainers in Shanghai .
During the past few years Dr. CISHAHAYO attended many high level training programs at the United Nations ( Geneva ) and received training certificates in Human Resources Management in the context of globalization , Management of Development , Management of Economy in transition , Corporate Social Responsibility , entrepreneurship and private sector labor development. In 2005, he completed a training program on Project Management with PMI (Project Management Institute (USA).
Dr. Jean Marie CISHAHAYO is a distinguish lecturer on “ Enterprise Innovation and Competitiveness” and “Cross-Cultural Communication” at Beijing University , Shanghai University, Hong Kong Business School, Panda Training Center for AMD Senior Managers and several chambers of commerce and the Business Association in China. He is also been invited as key speaker to several high level Investment conferences in China on SME Strategic Development for the World Bank , United Nations and the Chinese Government. Dr Jean Marie CISHAHAYO is fluent in English, French, Chinese, Swahili (spoken in more than 30 African countries ). He is a multi-cultural person familiar with western, African and Asian cultures. He was elected vice President of Fudan University Overseas Alumni and member of the Marco Polo Society for cultural, scientific and entrepreneurial spirits
Dr RAYMOND KOLTER (American) Dr Raymond Kolter currently holds the post of Professor in Law at Jiao Tong University, Shanghai International Studies University, Shanghai Institute of foreign trade (Top 20 Professor) Dr. Raymond Kolter has been studying and teaching in China for almost five years, as both a graduate student of Chinese law and government, and a professor of Anglo-American common law, Chinese law and administrative regulations, International law and legal comparative studies. Dr. Kolter’s education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science (China and East Asian Politics) from Midwestern State University, a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in law from Pepperdine University School of Law, post-graduate study in the field of Chinese Politics and International Relations at California State University Los Angeles, as well as post-doctoral study in both Chinese Studies and International Business at the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade School of International Studies. Dr. Kolter is also pursuing a Master of Arts de
gree in Chinese Politics and Diplomacy at Fudan University School of International Relations and Public Affairs with emphasis on Chinese Government and East Asian Political Economy. Dr. Kolter has been teaching law at Shanghai Jiaotong University for the past few years, teaching courses designed for individuals interested in the fields of Chinese business and law, with instruction on the following important subjects: Chinese Laws (Banking, Business, Commercial, Company, Contract, Currency, Financial, Insurance, Intellectual Property), Chinese Financial Markets, Chinese Securities & Stock Markets, International Financial Law, and Transnational Commercial Law. Professor Raymond Kolter is also on the faculty of the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade Law School, and a professor at the Shanghai International Studies University Law School, where he has taught a number of courses on American Law, which have included American Business Law, American Commercial Law, American Contract Law, American Legal System, Sa
> les and Negotiable Instruments and the UCC. He has also taught several courses in the field of International Law, including Arbitration, Environmental, Maritime, Negotiation, and Public Law. Dr. Kolter also teaches in the field of Comparative Studies; Common Law, Western Legal History and Theory, and World Legal Systems. Professor Kolter has also given lectures on issues involving Sino-American Relations, including those pertaining to APEC, ASEAN, International Treaties and Conventions, the UN, and the WTO.
Professionally, Raymond Kolter has been involved in the legal field for almost thirty years, as a law clerk, lawyer, legal consultant, and law professor, practicing in numerous areas of civil and criminal law, and has successfully mediated, negotiated, and litigated thousands of legal disputes during his career. His clients have included major domestic, foreign, and multinational corporations and insurance companies. He has also recently worked as an international legal consultant for multinational corporations and Chinese companies. Dr. Kolter is currently conducting research on China's legal development, specifically on recent changes in the law and judicial process. He is a registered foreign expert for the PRC.
DR. BRIAN J. SCHWARZ (American) Brian J. Schwarz.. has been associated with the Jiao Tong University Adult Education program for many years. His professional credentials span the globe: California Coast University, Santa Ana. Napier University, Scotland; University of Minnesota, USA;Kansai University, Japan.. Dr Schwarz is a prolific writes and has had many articles published for the Amerivan Chamber of Commerce, Shanghai Business review, Asia Times online, Eurobiz journal and many more. Brian can boast of many years of business teaching in China as well as corporate training, specializing in Human Resources and personnel selection.
With a strong academic background in Human Resources and many years of teaching experience in China and Japan, Brian J. Schwarz joins the team at Shanghai Jiaotong University. As a native of Minnesota (USA), Brian has taught a variety of business management courses in Beijing, Nanjing, and Shanghai since he moved to China in June 2000. As a graduate of Napier University’s MBA program in Beijing in 2002, Brian’s dissertation topic was recruiting and selecting strategies at multinational companies in China. While he taught at the Nanjing University of Finance Economics in 2003, Brian also authored a textbook entitled HRM: Practical Knowledge for an International Environment, which includes twelve lessons about twenty topics such as employee recruitment, organizational culture, the decision-making process, and performance appraisal. It includes many practical short studies from both Chinese and multinational companies.
> In addition to teaching, Brian also is a regular contributor to Insight magazine, a monthly publication from the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. In recent months, he wrote articles on the trends in the city’s fast-changing labor market for both Chinese staff and expatriate managers. His articles have also appeared in the EuroBiz Journal and Asia Times Online.
LAURENT DAGENAIS (Canadian) Educated at the George Washington University, Washington DC, and Concordia University, Montreal, (Double Master Degrees) Laurent enriches the MBA-C course with a wealth of experience in Human resource management, with corporate, Government and military management experience spanning many years. Dagenais has had plenty of “hands-on” experience in the corporate field as well, including Price Waterhouse Cooper, Northrop Grumman, General Electric . Laurent knows China inside-and-out and he is in an excellent position to advise those intending to do business in or with China on how to engender success in the Middle Kingdom

He is a holder of a Master’s degree in international relations and European studies (CEU) and an M.Phil degree in advanced international studies with Asia-Europe relations specialization (the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna). Gabor has lived and worked in China since 2002 and is fluent in Mandarin as well as a number of other languages. VICTOR DE LANGE (Netherlands) Victor has been lecturing Project Management for several semesters at Jiao Tong University with distinction and the courses have been well received by the students. Victor is an International Business and Management Studies graduate of Texas State University and HZ University in the Netherlands.
His career experience includes market research in the Asian hospitality sector for Philips Solid State Lighting in Shanghai and business advisory and assurance for PricewaterhouseCoopers Aruba, Netherlands Antilles. Victor furthermore gained experience as sales manager for Chinafloors Zhejiang Ld, where he was responsible for the continent of North America. Victor is currently involved in business development for the ICEC department of Jiao Tong University.

JACOBUS ROOT (New Zealand) Prof. Root is a different kind of teacher ; He has held posts lecturing to English Major students at SISU, Shanghai International Studies University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Lecturing at Chamber of Commerce Seminars as well as organizing and hosting a plethora English speaking and singing competitions and appearing on local Television shows.
> At Jiao Tong University he also manages the organization, design and marketing of ICEC, the International Continuing Education division. Jacobus has an enviable teaching track record indeed: In New Zealand he pioneered language classes for immigrant children; he was active in matters educational in Singapore too, and in China he has designed and executed TEFL teachers’ classes for many years, training foreign teachers for English language teaching duties in China. Prof. Root has a helpful disposition and a keen sense of humour. He is a certified China Foreign Expert , and has a BCA degree from Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand, and a string of other international qualifications. He was accorded a special Award and Diploma by the Shanghai Education department for the successful management of no less than three “English Culture weeks” in succession.
Mr. Root has been commissioned to teach at Jiao Tong University because of his extensive experience with Chinese students; his intimate knowledge of their problems and their motivation (or lack thereof); his knack of solving problem situations effectively and his propensity to stay unruffled, when everyone else loses their cool
SIMON STOKES (Irish) As Executive Director of ChinaAcumen, a Shanghai-based financial services consultancy, Simon Stokes provides advice to the financial services industry in Asia. Prior to arriving in Asia in 2001, Simon spent over 20 years in the Australian financial services industry in the roles of: entrepreneur, consultant and manager. Simon holds both an MA and BBS in business from Trinity College, University of Dublin. During 2008, Simon was Vice-Chairperson of the Shanghai Irish Business Forum and a member of the Corporate Governance focus group of the British Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai..
